The Upper Merion Farmers Market hosted its first annual Zucchini 500 race on Saturday, August 28. Children of all ages competed to win the race or take home one of several honorary prizes. Zucchinis decorated as race cars, school buses, train engines, and more hurled down the ramp custom built from lumber donated by Home Depot. Anthony Glascock beat out 23 other competitors to win the race.Farmers market

King of Prussia, PA  –  The Upper Merion Farmers Market will feature several special events this Saturday, September 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lois Charles, an Upper Merion resident and artist, will return to the market to offer face painting for children. These children can also participate in a scavenger hunt of the market or play at the arts and crafts table. The UMFM Committee is also kicking off a gently used cookbook fundraiser. Patrons are encouraged to visit the committee’s booth at the market in order to recycle their cookbooks. They can donate a dollar to purchase or borrow another cookbook of their liking. In addition, the committee is seeking recipes for its UMFM Cookbook. Recipes from market patrons, market vendors, and committee members will appear in the cookbook. Those individuals who wish to submit a recipe can do so by e-mailing it to umfarmersmarket@comcast.net.

The contemporary acoustic sounds of Meredith Consono will accompany the market’s Labor Day events.
